On Friday morning, we went on a campus tour that was pretty comprehensive. We took several pictures on her camera so I may be able to post some eventually. Midway there, we ate lunch at the Chili's Too on campus. That afternoon, I took her out to Cameron Park to drive around and see all the fun nature trails and lookouts. Unfortunately, the really good lookouts are closed for construction. But we did get to climb Jacob's ladder, which is basically a giant stone staircase leading to a field and playplace above. After the horrifying climb down, we went to help my boss move from her apartment to her brand new house!! It is the cutest house you'll ever see. OUr legs were so sore after the climb and then carrying things up and down stairs. I also got to take her to one of my favorite restaurants in town, Clay Pot. It is vietnamese food with the best spring rolls and iced tea. YUM!!! Sarah and Shannon joined us for a short run to the mall and then we finished out the night with a trip to the local coffee joint, Common Grounds.
On Saturday, we started the day with pancakes and eggs as Cafe Cappuccino. The pancakes are as big as the plates!!! So GOOD! Then we went to the 75% off sale at our little thrift store downtown before driving to San Antonio. We decided that since i had never been there before, we should do an early dinner at the Riverwalk. We ate at a Mexican restaurant called Ritas. We then walked around to waste a bit of time before going to the amphitheater for the Brad Paisley concert. THis is still the same tour that my friend Curt is working on with Jewel. Chuck Wicks opened the show. Brad Paisley is a major prankster. He likes to prank everyone who tours with him. A few weeks ago, he hadn't really done anything yet so Jewel struck first. You can see the video here: Jewel pranks Brad video. So since it was the last night of the tour, there were pranks all night! Brad got Chuck really bad! His crew tarred and feathered him, put his face on the body of Cinderella (because he sings a song called "Stealing Cinderella"), and had his girlfriend Julianne Hough break up with him during the show! But the best one was that during the last song, the crew came out and took the drummer's drums one at a time. He continued to play as if everything was still there. THey even took his sticks. Good thing he has a spare! Jewel's drummer was playing behind a curtain so at least the song still sounded ok. It was awful. Here are a few videos. You can see him covered in feathers and then in the back ground all the drms are gone and he is still playing. You can see them take his seat from him too! THey were cruel! Drummer loses drums video. Julianne dumps Chuck. Then during Jewel's show. they attached a big 300 lb man to a hook and flew him around stage. THe kicker is that he was wearing a skin tight suit made only of latex. It was so gross!!! THey also covered her voice with animal sounds when she yodeled. She sounded a bit like Chewbacca. Then finally, it was Brad's turn! They had a Borat impersonator come out and interrupt the show. After he was done, both Jewel and Chuck came out to thank Brad for everything and call a truce. Little did he know, he would be getting arrested for "lewd acts of guitar noodling when he arrived back into the Nashville airport later that night!!! STill waiting for that video. Hopefully I can post next time! Afterwards we hung out with our old Big and Rich friends (Ed, his wife Lindsey, and Lindell) and then went home.
We had some great times and had two of our famous stay up way too late talking nights. I sure miss those A LOT! I'm exhausted and up way too late tonight because of it. The price you pay for fun!! I should probably head to bed so that I can get some work done tomorrow. Here is a picture of us from the show!
